I quote car detailing jobs every day in Dallas. I know what we charge, I know what competitors charge, and I know why the $49 Groupon detail and the $400 full detail produce wildly different results. Here is an honest breakdown of what car detailing costs in Dallas–Fort Worth in 2026 — what you are paying for, what changes the price, and how to avoid getting ripped off.

Dallas detailing prices at a glance

These are real market prices for professional-grade mobile detailing in DFW. Not the cheap car wash guys, not the premium luxury shops charging $800+. The middle of the professional market:

Those ranges exist for a reason. Here is what moves the price.

The four things that change your price

1. Vehicle size. This is the biggest factor. A Honda Civic takes 2-3 hours for a full detail. A Chevy Suburban takes 5-6 hours. There is literally twice as much surface area to wash, clay, polish, and protect — twice as much carpet to extract, twice as many seats to shampoo. The difference between “sedan” and “full-size truck/SUV” pricing is usually 40-60% on every service.

2. Current condition. A car that gets detailed every 3 months is fundamentally different from a car that has not been cleaned in two years. The second car needs more time on decontamination, more passes with the extractor, more product. We quote after seeing the vehicle because condition matters more than most people expect. If you have not cleaned your car in a long time, do not be surprised if the quote is higher than the starting price.

3. Specific problems. Pet hair is a real time adder — it embeds into fabric and does not vacuum out easily. Smoke exposure requires separate treatment. Kids who have been grinding goldfish crackers into the seat fabric for three years create a different job than a commuter car. These are not upcharges for fun. They represent real additional hours of labor.

4. Add-on services. Engine bay cleaning, headlight restoration, leather conditioning, wheel coating, trim restoration — these are separate services that each add 30-60 minutes. They are optional, and a good detailer explains which ones your car actually needs rather than piling everything on.

Where the cheap “details” cut corners

You can find $49-79 “full details” on Groupon and Facebook Marketplace in Dallas. I am not here to trash other detailers, but I will be direct about what those prices buy:

Time. A real interior detail takes 2-3 hours minimum. A real exterior detail takes 2-3 hours. If someone is doing a “full detail” in 90 minutes, they are cutting steps. Period. There is no magic technique that makes a thorough job take half the time. They are skipping extraction, skipping decontamination, skipping protection.

Products. Professional detailing products cost money. The difference between a $4 gallon of generic APC and a proper enzymatic cleaner, between generic wax and a quality ceramic sealant, between a worn towel and a clean microfiber — it is all in the result.

Paint safety. This is the big one people miss. Improper washing and drying techniques cause swirl marks. The $49 detail might make your car look clean today and leave it covered in new micro-scratches that you will not see until the sun hits it. A brush from an automatic car wash, a dirty chamois, or wiping a dry dusty surface — this is how paint gets damaged during “cleaning.” Professional detailers use clean microfiber, proper lubrication, and techniques designed to remove dirt without adding new damage. That process is slower. Slower costs more.

Interior vs. exterior vs. full — which do you actually need?

Get interior-only if: your paint is in decent shape (no visible oxidation, water spots, or contamination) but your cabin is rough — stains, odors, dusty surfaces, leather that needs conditioning. This is the most common request from families with kids and pet owners.

Get exterior-only if: your interior is fine but the paint looks flat, contaminated, or water-spotted. Also a good choice if you are maintaining a car that was recently detailed or ceramic coated.

Get the full detail if: both need work. A full detail is cheaper than booking interior and exterior separately — you save $100+ because setup and teardown happen once instead of twice.

When ceramic coating is worth the bigger number

Ceramic coating is the most expensive single service we offer, and it is also the one with the clearest ROI. Here is the math:

A quality ceramic coating runs $529 for a 3-year coating on a sedan up to $1,459 for a 10-year coating on an XL vehicle, and lasts 3-10 years depending on the tier. During that time, your paint is protected from UV oxidation, chemical etching from bird droppings and tree sap, water spot formation, and light scratching. It also makes washing dramatically faster — contaminants do not bond to coated paint the way they do to unprotected clear coat.

Without coating, you will spend more on maintenance details over the same period, and you risk the kind of oxidation damage that leads to a $3,000+ respray. Texas heat is the worst case scenario for unprotected paint.

Where coating is NOT worth it: if you are selling the car in under a year, if the paint is already severely oxidized (it needs correction or respray first), or if it is a beater you do not plan to maintain.

How to get an accurate quote without the runaround

A detailer who quotes without seeing or at least understanding your vehicle is guessing. Here is how to get a real quote from us or anyone else:

Tell them: your vehicle year, make, and model (this determines size). The last time it was detailed or seriously cleaned. Any specific issues (stains, pet hair, smoke, water spots, oxidation). What services you think you need — or just describe what you want the end result to be and let them recommend.

Our online price estimate gives you an instant ballpark based on service and vehicle size. For an exact quote, book online or call us at (945) 233-7397. We will tell you honestly what your car needs — not what adds the most to the ticket.

We are a mobile detailing service covering Dallas, Plano, Frisco, Irving, Mesquite, and the full DFW metroplex. Same prices everywhere — no travel fees.
