What's Legal in Texas — And Why It Matters
Texas Transportation Code specifies Visible Light Transmission (VLT) requirements that are checked during annual vehicle inspection. Installing non-compliant tint means a failed inspection, a fix-it ticket, and paying to have the film removed and reinstalled. We only install tint that passes Texas DPS inspection.
Sedans & Coupes
Windshield: 25% VLT or higher on top 5 inches (AS-1 line) only. The rest must remain untinted.
Front side windows: Must allow 25% or more light through.
Back side windows: Any darkness permitted.
Rear window: Any darkness permitted.
SUVs, Trucks & Vans
Windshield: Same 25% VLT on top 5 inches.
Front side windows: Must allow 25% or more light.
Back side windows: Any darkness permitted.
Rear window: Any darkness permitted.
All our tint installations are performed with Texas inspection standards in mind. We help you select the darkest legal option for each window position so you get maximum heat rejection and privacy without compliance risk.
Why Window Tinting Isn't Optional in Dallas
Dallas averages 90+ days above 90°F per year. Without window film, your car's cabin temperature can exceed 150°F when parked in direct sunlight. That heat damages dashboards, fades leather and fabric, and makes the first 15 minutes of every drive in summer miserable.
Heat rejection — quality ceramic window film blocks up to 60% of solar heat energy entering through glass. The difference is measurable: 15-20°F cooler cabin temperatures when parked, and your A/C reaches set temperature faster.
UV protection — window film blocks 99% of UV-A and UV-B radiation. UV causes leather cracking, vinyl fading, and dashboard warping. For drivers in Frisco and Plano with sun-facing commutes on the DNT, this protection prevents thousands in interior damage over the life of the vehicle.
Glare reduction — the low-angle Texas sun during morning and evening commutes on I-635 and US-75 is a serious visibility issue. Tint reduces glare without darkening your view of the road.
For maximum interior protection, pair window tinting with our interior detailing service — tint protects from future damage while detailing restores what's already happened.
Window Film Types — What's the Difference?
Not all window film is the same. Here's what we offer and why the type matters more than most people realize.
Dyed Film
The most affordable option. Provides privacy and reduces visible light but offers minimal heat rejection. Best for drivers primarily looking for aesthetics on a budget. Tends to fade to purple over 3-5 years in Texas sun.
Carbon Film
Better heat rejection than dyed film without the metallic look or electronic signal interference. Matte finish, doesn't fade to purple. A strong mid-range choice for Dallas drivers who want heat reduction without the premium price of ceramic.
Ceramic Film
The highest-performing option. Blocks up to 60% of solar heat energy, 99% of UV, and maintains full signal clarity for GPS, phones, and toll tags. Does not fade or discolor. This is what we recommend for Texas — the heat rejection pays for itself in A/C savings and interior preservation.
